We Can Help With
We support children and adolescents through a range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges. Our approach is practical, evidence-based, and always tailored to the unique needs of each child and family.

Many families reach out unsure of what exactly their child is going through — only that something doesn’t feel right. Whether it’s anxiety, low mood, or difficulties at home or school, we’re here to help make sense of it and move forward with support that’s both informed and compassionate.

You don’t need to have the perfect words — just a sense that your child might need support. Here are some of the areas we commonly work with at Nest Psychology. If you’re not sure where to start, that’s okay. We’re here to guide you.
Anxiety
Anxiety in children and teens can show up as constant worry, avoidance, irritability, or physical symptoms like stomach aches. It’s more than nerves—it can feel overwhelming and hard to control. We help young people understand and manage their anxiety with practical tools, emotional support, and a focus on feeling safe again.
PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
PTSD can occur after frightening or overwhelming experiences. Children may re-live the event, become hyper-alert, withdrawn, or reactive. These responses are the brain’s way of trying to stay safe. Therapy helps young people process what happened, feel grounded in the present, and begin to rebuild trust and security.
Panic
Panic attacks can feel sudden and overwhelming—racing heart, chest pain, dizziness, or a sense of doom. For children and teens, they can be frightening and confusing. We help them understand the cycle of panic, build calming strategies, and reduce fear around the sensations through steady, therapeutic support.
Depression
Depression isn’t just sadness—it can look like withdrawal, low motivation, irritability, or a loss of interest in things that used to bring joy. We help children and adolescents make sense of these feelings, build emotional resilience, and reconnect with themselves in a safe, supportive therapeutic space.
OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)
OCD involves intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours (compulsions) that children feel driven to perform to reduce anxiety. These patterns can be distressing and time-consuming. We help young people understand what’s happening in their brain, gently challenge compulsions, and develop healthier ways to manage uncertainty and fear.
Phobias
A phobia is an intense fear of a specific object, situation, or experience that feels out of proportion but very real to the child. Avoidance can start to limit daily life. We work gently and gradually to reduce fear, build confidence, and restore a sense of safety and control.
