Hello
About Nest Psychotherapy
At Nest Psychology, we specialise in supporting children and young people through life’s challenges with care, clarity, and connection. Founded by Kirsty, a child and adolescent psychotherapist trained in specialist CBT and trauma-focused approaches, Nest was created as a safe, grounded space for young minds to feel understood and supported.
We believe that early support can change the course of a life — not only by helping children heal from adversity, but by strengthening their emotional foundations and building lifelong resilience.
Our mission is simple and sincere:
“To guide children and young people toward deeper connection — with themselves, with others, and with the world around them. Using specialist CBT and trauma-focused approaches, we support early emotional wellbeing, help make sense of adversity, and empower every child to grow with resilience, purpose, and self-belief.”
Whether a young person is struggling with anxiety, trauma, low mood, or simply feeling out of place, Nest offers a compassionate, clinical space where they can feel safe to explore, express, and evolve — one step at a time.
My Story
Hello, I’m Kirsty — a BABCP and BPS registered psychotherapist specialising in children, adolescents, and families. I’m also a mother of three, a believer in early intervention, and the founder of Nest Psychotherapy — a therapeutic space where children feel seen, heard, and supported.
My approach is grounded in clinical expertise, but it’s also deeply personal. With a professional background spanning NHS services and international placements, I bring a lived understanding of how early experiences shape our inner world.
At the beginning of my training, I spent six months in Sri Lanka on a mental health placement, working with neurodivergent and children with additional needs in profoundly difficult conditions. That experience didn’t just strengthen my skills — it confirmed what I already knew: I was meant to help children heal.
I’ve always found it easy to connect with children and young people — even those I’ve just met. Perhaps it’s because I’m still attuned to my younger self, able to see the world through their eyes. This connection allows me to meet each child with genuine presence, playfulness, and empathy — helping them feel understood from the very first session.

Why I Do This Work
At the heart of Nest is a simple truth: children thrive when they feel emotionally safe and deeply understood.
My drive to do this work is shaped by many things — professional training, motherhood, and yes, lived experience of childhood adversity. I know how powerful it is when a child finally feels seen. I know what can change when that happens.
At Nest, we focus on prevention, not just repair — helping children build emotional resilience before patterns take hold. We work relationally, developmentally, and with integrity, guiding families through difficult chapters with clarity, warmth, and compassion.
Whether we’re addressing anxiety, trauma, behavioural struggles, or emotional overwhelm — our goal is always the same:
To nurture healing, strengthen relationships, and help young people grow into themselves with confidence and hope.
